In July 2025, I relocated from Jefferson, GA back to Columbia, SC to help my mom, be closer to my children and my friends. I also had to take a break from the stressful job. That lasted 10 months and I was headed back to Athens, GA after accepting an offer to come back to the poultry plant and in my old job. Why I did that is another post in itself that I may or may not write later.
When I relocated back to Athens, I chose to buy a house instead of rent one so that I could make it my home. I never really felt like the house I had before here in Georgia was my home, rather it was a place I just lived. So I took the risk and bought a small house with 1.5 acres in a quiet, out of the way little neighborhood. Buying this house also allowed me to bring 2 young, rescued cats to their forever home with me. Nellie, a very opinionated, and very pretty muted Calico was a failed foster that a good friend of mine set me up in the late summer of 2025. Felicia is a tuxedo cat that was caught when she was a kitten in the colony of feral cats we fed and watered daily. Felicia is much quieter and not as social as Nellie, but once she figured out she was home , she blossomed into a very affectionate and playful girl. And they are spoiled rotten. It took me a little more than a year to get my garage to where I could start building the airplane again. Too many boxes and too much stuff crowded my garage so I had to organize everything, move stuff around, etc. to have enough space to start building my RV-8.
My mom is good for now and she has visited my little house and approved. She encouraged me to do what I wanted to do, so I did.
